The Surface

*The surface of Csilla was a frigid, frozen desert. Nothing grows here, save for perhaps the rare lichen. In the year 5000 BBY, an Ice Age struck Csilla, leading to the rise of glaciers and constant snow. Rather than abandon their homeworld, the scientifically advanced Chiss decided instead to found cities beneath the ice, where they are kept warm by rerouting the heat from the planet's core.
Due to the mineral content of Csilla's hydrosphere, the glaciers that dominate the surface of the world are a vivid blue in color, unlike other frozen worlds such as Hoth and Rhen Var. Though inhospitable, the surface is certainly striking to look at. Visitors to Csilla will skim across these icy plains until they reach vents that will open and allow starships to descend to the warren cities below.
There is little reason to actually venture through this tundra. Some Chiss, especially thrill-seekers, find enjoyment in climbing the many frozen mountains of Csilla. The Chiss Expansionary Defense Force conducts routine operations and training within these cold climes. There is also the ever-continuous scouting for new resources being unearthed through the snow, and also possible sites for new cities.*
