Research Notes on The Mysterious Device
:: We have so far been unable to properly date the Holocron ... If it even is one. Most of the team believes it is Celestial in Origin, containing a blend of alloy at one point similar to what is found at Centerpoint Station, though we've also noted Rakatan influences in the outward casing, from the, ah, Infinite Empire time period. Tentatively we are forced to date it at some point between fifty thousand and twenty thousand Aeh-Bee-Why, though even that is pure conjecture on the part of this team. ::
:: Master Solusar has been unable to give us any insight into the Holocron as well. It appears to be able to show those who view it a "possible future", of sorts, though that is not always true. Sometimes it shows events from the past, or even those happening concurrently with the time the device is activated, although the progression of events and, indeed, even the setting sometimes is completely ... artificial, it seems. The things it shows have never happened and never come to pass, and in some cases are purely impossible. One, for instance, showed a very intact and prosperous Alderaan at what we as far could date around Twenty Four Aeh-Bee-Why. However, even our attempts to date the, the ... projections, it shows us, are all circumstantial. ::
:: As far as we can tell, and what we can is not much, the Device appears to be showing alternate views of time. Events that could have been, but did not pass. However, sometimes the things it shows are completely beyond the scope of even minor changes causing them to pass. They appear to be, if I may borrow a Science-Fiction term, "Alternate Dimensions". We have seen well-known members of the Galactic Community in many different roles, all very clearly the same person, but not in the same situations, the same ... Well, anything. ::
:: For now, the Holocron has been noted as safe. Since its discovery nearly thirty years ago, we have observed no ill-effects from using or studying it, and are looking into ways it can be used. We have already verified that its ability to predict the future is, at best, skeptical, but one Researcher from Coruscant believes that there may be value in the Entertainment Industry in recording these "alternate views" for the purposes of Holofilms. I disagree with the notion that something so ancient and powerful could be used for something as trivial as making another Jedi Action 'film for the Silver Projector, but ... the tales can often be quite interesting. ::
:: We will continue our delving into this, and record all of the projections it shows us here. Perhaps someone else can make light of what, precisely, this Holocron is to be used for, and why it shows us these Alternative Events. ::

The "Mysterious Device" is a board for writing what has previously in the Star Wars canon been referred to as : non-canon stories that do not affect Canon whatsoever, and can generally, as a rule, be about anything and everything, as long as the general setting stays within the Star Wars Universe.
This board is home to the "what-if" stories of Worlds Of Star Wars, and can feature just about anything a writer would like to work on that is outside of the accepted canon. Changing Timelines, Major Events in Canon and RP History, and accepted facts about WoSW and SW as a whole are all acceptable. Like the rules of , this is a free-writing forum, and those same rules apply here just as they do on The Great Holocron.
Welcome to The Mysterious Device: where past, future, present, and even reality are all subject to your whims.
Have fun.
