Room Of A Thousand Fountains

Postby Jago » Sat Nov 16, 2013 2:48 am

*Restored in 35 ABY, the Room Of A Thousand Fountains was a legendary, nigh mythical garden housed at the base of the Northwestern complex of the Jedi Temple. Seven stories in height, it housed both its namesake in the shape of a plethora of waterfalls. as well as a lush arboretum containing flora and foliage from quite literally every corner of The Galaxy. Stone walkways and small bridges over streams that appeared to have no source provided a winding, slow path through the Gardens, coaxing the feelings of peace and serenity that the Jedi tried to adhere to.

The Room Of A Thousand Fountains had many uses, the most common being a place where one could meditate and find their center amidst the calm waters and flow of life from the trees and plants. At times, The High Council would meet here to have their deliberations under the trees and besides the rivers. In other cases, the clash of lightsabers could be heard echoing through the grass and leaves, as Apprentices and even Masters sparred here for the purposes of tranquility.

Aside from being an area of natural beauty, containing a host of gifts and donations sent by appreciative supporters of The Jedi Order (usually in the form of rare or uniquely impressive flora), the Fountain Room was also a technological wonder to behold. In the rafters, a large collection of lighting banks, uniquely imprinted upon canvas covers, gave the impression that the ceiling was the open sky itself. The lighting would change to reflect the time of day, giving the sense that one was outside of the sentient-made structure and within the wild where the raw power and ebb of The Force could be felt.*
